My name’s Spencer Brown.  I’m a stand up comedian/award winning writer-director and I’ve recently started doing some freelance creative work in advertising.  I’ve been working with Alpha Century (a new agency set up by Grey alumni), writing on and helping develop their new Coral campaign with Danny McBride.  Here’s one of the ads:

And here’s a reference from their creative director:

‘Spencer proved invaluable. We worked together to create a host of scripts, scenarios and gags for a vast series of ads for UK TV, Radio and Print.  Spencer listened carefully and then disappeared to apply his innate and mischievous sense of humour to whatever scenario I’d given him; impressively crafting ideas and characters into worlds he didn’t necessarily know lots about. He’ll definitely be top of my list to write future scripts.’

I also rewrote and directed The Bendenden Supporters Club for the agency Ignis, which was nominated for Brand Development/Extension Strategy of the Year at the Drum Marketing Awards:

The Boy with a Camera for a Face is my most recent short film as writer-director.  It has screened on Channel 4, sold internationally, and won multiple awards, including the Oscar qualifying Best of Fest at SLIFF.  You can watch it here:

Here’s another, more comedic, short I wrote and directed for the BBC with the production company Eyeworks that was used as an example of what they hoped to achieve via their online strand:

Outside of advertising, I have also written for various TV shows, including the BAFTA winning Smack the Pony, and had numerous commissions and options for original scripts I have also been head writer on a number of TV Entertainment shows, including The Sexy Ads Show (Fiver/Channel 5‘s highest rated commission at the time) and Lip Service, which I co-presented with Holly Willoughby on ITV 2:
